The Extended Leadership Team (ELT) from the Technology Directorate of O2 recently came together at Cotswold Conference Centre for an ‘in tents’ conference.
One of O2’s It's Your Community projects, CHICKS, benefited as most of the 60 delegates chose to sacrifice the comfort of their en-suite bedrooms for a night under canvas. O2 Event Manager Nick Becker explains: “The staff at CCC were incredibly supportive and helpful with our quirky requirements. We needed plenty of space for the camp site and conference marquee. Everyone had the option of a bedroom and the majority agreed to camp. Those who took the soft option of a comfortable bedroom were encouraged to serve the camping community at breakfast. As a team building event this set-up worked really well for us.”
Nick continued, “The accommodation cost savings and many generous personal donations will soon be presented to the CHICKS who do great work providing residential countryside breaks for disadvantaged children. As planned, the peaceful, rural environment at CCC complemented the objectives of the event which created a most successful conference.”
CCC’s Chris Catford enjoyed the variety… “We helped set up camp, stocked the outside bar complete with a generator-driven fridge and offered Jouster – a local real ale which went down well. Our chefs cooked the evening BBQ in the field. This certainly isn’t the norm for us but O2 were a joy to work with. The team here really enjoyed the unique challenges we faced and feedback has been very positive”.
